RECOVERY TVTM

WHY NOW? WHY US?

According to the National Institute of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and the US. Surgeon General, there are 15 million people (1 in 8 adults) in the U.S. with varying intensities of alcohol use disorder. Sadly, only 10% of those people will go through a formal rehab program, often because they can’t afford it or don't have the right insurance to cover it.

Rehab’s great; but what do those 4 million people do when it's over? How can they stay motivated and inspired throughout their recovery if they can't afford a therapist, or don’t have time to make every meeting? Or can’t find a meeting they like? Or would just rather do their recovery alone?

About 10% of Americans take illegal drugs; 85% of them at a level that can be called "use disorder." That’s 28 million Americans. On drugs. Only 10% of them make it to rehab. Many of the rest probably want to recover, but don't even know where to start. How can they get unbiased information about treatment options? Hear from other recovering addicts about what worked for them, and why?

Let’s not forget behavioral disorders. Gambling Addicts: 10 million Americans. Sex Addicts: 15 million. Eating Disorders: 30 million. Most don’t even know that there are recovery options available to them. By the time some of them try to get help, it's too late.

Add it all up and an average of 25 million Americans - a tenth of the U.S.population - will become part (formally or informally) of the recovery community every year. And this doesn’t even include the millions of friends and family members whose lives are directly impacted by the results of that recovery.

But recovery isn’t only an American phenomenon. Worldwide there are up to half a billion people who need help and probably undertake some form of recovery at some point in their lives.

That's why at RECOVERY TV we created an online community and digital media hub that provides people everywhere with timely, helpful, thought-provoking and carefully-researched recovery-related content through a medium everyone consumes all the time:  VIDEO.

Unlike most other recovery-related websites, we don't feature advertising from treatment facilities looking for new patients, and don't engage in affiliate marketing for them. We're just completely unbiased free content available wherever, whenever and however you need it.

We also know that recovery is a complex, emotional issue - and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Maybe it's rehab, maybe it's not.  Our motto is: Go with whatever recovery strategy or program works best for you.
And part of that strategy can also include RECOVERY TV. We were designed to help...

  • People who don't have a problem (but want to learn how to help someone who does)

  • Those who think they might have a problem (but aren't sure how serious)

  • Anyone who knows they have a problem (but don’t know how to get the right help)

  • Individuals who do something about their problem (by quitting or getting some form of treatment)

  • Everyone who wants to sustain their recovery by whatever means possible

Regardless of where you're at, we'll be there to support you.
